Anti Aging Foods
We know it’s not going to stop the march of time, but by sticking with an anti aging diet you take a massive step towards slowing the aging process to a walk.
For too many people mention anti aging and their first thoughts are of expensive skin creams, facial masks and cosmetic therapy, but as well as the effects that getting old has on your appearance there are many more internal aging processes that need to be addressed and there is no more natural anti aging tips than food and diet.
One major problem the body encounters is cell damage. Cells are programed to go through various stages during their life to the point where they divide and die. When we are younger, more often than not, the whole process takes care of itself.
That’s not to say it would not benefit from a little help, but it manages OK quite naturally. As we age though more and more cells become damaged and those cells don’t die as they should leaving you open to diseases such as cancer, as the rogue cells multiply out of control.

This is where anti aging foods come in. You probably know they will help the appearance of your skin, but foods rich in antioxidants will fight disease and keep you looking and feeling younger all round.
It is only in recent years that we are starting to understand just how effective foods for anti aging are at helping the body stave off damage that the ravages of time inflicts on our bodies. By putting in place an anti aging diet plan today you will be effectively fighting the signs of old age both on the inside and out.
Eat your five a day, as recommended by government health officials world wide, and be sure to include a good percentage of anti aging fruit. Cranberries, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries are among the best anti aging diet fruits for adding to smoothies and juicing, but all fruits are OK to consume.
Vegetables provide outstanding benefits against aging too. Romaine lettuce, sweet potato, broccoli, beetroot and carrots are particularly good, with beetroot and carrot considered by many to be anti aging superfoods.
Green leafy vegetables must feature highly in the top 10 anti aging foods as they contain beneficial levels of potassium and calcium, that during aging will maintain the bodies strength, and too aid good eye health they are rich in lutein and beta carotene.
Vitamin K is one vitamin you don’t hear much about, it’s needed though to help maintain heart health and strong healthy bones and can be found in greens such as spinach, kale and turnip tops (greens).
Carbohydrate Anti Aging Food
Also essential (in my view) to any healthy natural anti aging remedies food diet plan is meat as your source of protein, but this probably stems from my belief in a Paleo diet. If you need to, give red meats a miss as it could cause heart health problems, instead opting for leaner meat like chicken, turkey and omega 3 rich fish.
Limit fish to just once or twice a week max and keep up with antioxidants known to fight heavy metals (particularly mercury) free radicals.
As I eat a paleo diet (not strict) I try to steer clear of white carbs but you will find whole grains to be very filling, and as they contain high quantities of fiber are a beneficial ingredient in the fight against certain cancers.
Whole grain oatmeal is another heart healthy anti aging food that also fights health problems known to cause furring of the arteries, a major cause of heart attacks and strokes.
A number of the top anti aging foods are also known for their anti-inflammatory properties. With inflammation closely linked in a negative manner with the aging process, the benefits of foods like olive oil, green tea and dark chocolate can not be overstated.
Soy based foods also have the ability to battle inflammation but I personally don’t take soy in any form due to it’s reported link to causing acne and other more general bad skin conditions.
